Multiply Users & Developers Group

I recently started using Facebook a little. I'd signed up to view someone's pictures, and when I recently updated my highschool and college info, I immediately heard from so many old friends who I'd lost touch with over the years. Very cool. That said, the site is a mess, it is so confusing, I have no sense where anything is, it's badly organized, most of the applications are inane. It totally made me appreciate Multiply that much more!

So, I'm not impressed with most of Facebook (except for the fact that so many people are using it!!). One thing I do really like though is that I can take a picture from my iPhone and with one click, have it upload to Facebook. It got me thinking about what I'd like to see from Multiply.

1st - an iPhone app would be cool, to be able to do something similar - rather than taking the picture, and then going through 3-4 clicks to email it my Multiply site.
But more importantly, 2nd - If I am taking a random shot with my cell phone and posting it to Multiply, I don't want it to be its own album, blog, etc. If I do that, it emails my contacts (those that get emailed), and I feel it's just too intrusive for a random picture I'm taking. I just don't think it merits it's own album or blog (at least the kind of pictures that I'd like to take and share). I think it would be nice if we could set up a default album for our mobile pictures. Then anytime we take a mobile pic and send it in, it would get added to that album. But also (and I think this has been mentioned before), I'd like the album to get bumped up on the inbox when a new picture is added. The same way it is when a new reply is added.

So one album for all my pictures that I email in (or ideally automatically save from iPhone). This could be an optional setting so if you want to keep the existing way you could. When new pictures are added, bump it up on the Inbox. And the rest of the rules would stay the same. If someone had replied to one of my pictures and had notifications on, they would get alerted again when I added a picture. Anyone who didn't have notification on for that album wouldn't, exactly like replies.

MessageSuggestion: Links to MediaLockerJul 25, '08 1:00 AM
by Luiz Felipe for everyone
I have the impression that many users aren't using MediaLocker yet simply because there is only one link to it: in the rail on personal pages. How about a link in the Tools box (Inbox) and in the Post page?

I want to be a premium user of multiply. but wonder if I can use the space, free after ads removing, for adding any kind of information.

thanks

Message[Suggestion] Private messages - easy to locateJul 22, '08 7:49 PM
by ~° Tint for everyone
If there is one thing that drives me a little insane, it is having to go to Custom each time to find my private messages. Would it be terribly hard to include one more category in that little list down the left side of the Media Locker - Private messages?

I know many feel as I do that pm's are tricky to keep track of and hunt down. It would be brilliant if they were just one click away, either in the Media Locker or a tab at the top of the page... there are many possibilities. I wouldn't even mind a link in the Inbox.

Please make suggestions at muds . You can use the search feature, bottom of this link to see if it's been suggested before:

Hello,

When I add 5 or 10 pics to a flicker set and want to add those same pics to Multiply -- my only option is to import the entire Flickr "SET" again and then delete what may be hundreds of duplicates just to get the additional 5 or 10 uploaded. I found this out a while ago when I first joined Multiply.

Is it possible that Multiply could please come up with a way to import individual pics only from Flickr and not just "SET(S)" ? I would like this to be an official request.

I am asking before I make the determination to go Premium or not. If this is not an option in the near future then it might behoove me to just have only a few single lo-res pics on Multiply and them point to my hi-res in a link to Flickr.

Thank you.

MessageBefore I become "Platinum"...Jul 13, '08 10:49 PM
by Joan for everyone
I read this in the TOS:

Automatic Renewal Program
By purchasing Subscription Services, you authorize Multiply to automatically renew your Subscription Services on the 1st of the month following the end of your then-current subscription. This is to ensure continuous service. You further authorize Multiply to charge the credit card on file for your account at the then-current subscription rate unless you provide Multiply with prior notice that you are canceling your subscription before the renewal date. Please note that even if you provide notice, charges applied before Multiply can reasonably act are non-refundable.

My questions are:

1. Will this "auto-renewal" work if I pay via Paypal?
2. Can't we just have the "auto-renewal" be an option in our "account settings" to avoid the hassle of having to "communicate" with Multiply for a prior notice of cancellation, as stated in the last sentence of the paragraph above. I want to upgrade to Platinum, but I don't want to have problems about this subscription one year after - especially if I decide not to renew.

I'm looking forward to your response. Thanks :)

some times u have a photo , a chart or a table ,... that can provide a better reply but it's impossible to upload attachments in comment area . instead of that video and audio reply is provided but i think the other attachment could be much more useful than that .

MessageImporting weblog entries from XangaJul 8, '08 2:06 AM
by Joanna for everyone
Is there any chance that I could import blog entries from Xanga???

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen any css coding to remove the option that allows users to delete replies to blogs that they have entered.

I would like to disable that option in a discussion group. Thank You..

MessageSuggestion : Subfolders for photo albumsJul 2, '08 10:52 AM
by Justin Adriel for everyone
I am planning to upload around a hundred albums as soon as I upgrade to a premium account. These are grouped into years : 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Instead of seeing hundreds of albums whenever I click on the Photos link on my site, I want to see only 4 albums representing those 4 years. I do hope that Multiply will implement album subfolders soon.

MessageExtra Divs, can we have them?Jul 1, '08 3:29 AM
by Jerky for everyone
I am sort of a "layout designer" or has been studying web layout lately. I stumbled into some sites (like skype.com) where they have an "extra-div" div which is mostly used to place PNG images afloat your site to decorate your site. I wonder if we can have that in multiply, that would be great. There's tons of things you can do with an extra-div, and it would be really nice if we can have it.

I am not sure if anyone has posted this, but it sure would be nice to have. It will make CSS site design more fun and flexible.

Thanks.

MessageMedia Locker functionalityJun 30, '08 1:56 PM
by ~° Tint for everyone
I have two suggestions I hope will prove useful:

1) Can we please have media locker on the toolbar?

2) Right now, to use a photo in a blog or comment, I have to use the autouploader, then open my site, click on media locker, move the photo to an album, go to album in question, click on the photo, zoom, then I get to snag the url to use in my blog or comments. In the past, I'd simply click on post via my toolbar, upload the photo, click on photo, zoom, and I'm done. Media locker has added a extra step or two.
My suggestion:
A way to get the url in Media locker or additional buttons at the bottom, "Add to blog", "Copy to blog", "Grab url" or whatever else would work.

MessagePiclens IntegrationJun 30, '08 4:15 AM
by Joey for everyone
Hi! i'm new here and i don't know if this was suggested before.
I'd like to suggest an integration with Piclens. If you haven't tried it yet, you should!

http://www.piclens.com/

Some social community websites have already integrated with Piclens namely: Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Hi5, and even Friendster.

MessageMedia locker selectionJun 29, '08 4:39 PM
by ~° Tint for everyone
I would dearly love to be able to select a group of photos within a folder in media locker. Right now, I can only use Ctrl and add them to the group one at a time. It would be great to be able to use my Shift to click start and end of a group or even drag a selection.

Great tool though : )

MessagePremium Membership - Gift SubscriptionsJun 28, '08 10:37 AM
by Angie for everyone
I posted this as a question on the staff blog announcing the Premium Service but it appears no one has answered it yet.

I would like to know whether or not we will be able to purchase Premium Memberships on behalf of other Multiply users.
for example: I have a family member or two that have Multiply free accounts. They have a birthday coming up and I want to get them a gift that I know they would appreciate and use. Why not purchase them a premium membership?

At the moment the only way I can see that I could do this would be to ask them for their log in information or to supply them with my credit card/bank details. Neither of these options are desirable.

I am interested to find out if Multiply is able to provide a method to gift a subscription and whether other users want this feature.

~Thank you

MessageBrowser Title for PM'sJun 26, '08 12:32 AM
by Luiz Felipe for everyone
First, congrats to the Multiply team for the recent upgrade: it's indeed a great move and shows respect to all users not removing features from the free user base but actually adding new ones. Way to go! =)

As a simple suggestion: PM's always have the same Page Title (displayed in the browser title bar) that is Multiply - Inbox, the same as the Inbox by the way. It would be nice if it displays the actual PM subject like other posts, so we could usually find the page when multiple tabs/windows are open. ;)

Thanks in advance.

MessagePoll cut off timesJun 25, '08 11:20 AM
by ~° Tint for everyone
When one posts a poll, it is usually with the idea of having results in a certain time frame. So far, I have been using an external clock countdown feature to alert voters that voting time is up. Could we please have a built-in method where voting can be cut off after a certain length of time? Perhaps where we can go in and disable further voting or set a date and time when voting will no longer be accepted?
