by Reza for everyone
Then, what do you think? Are you ready to pay $20 (this is an example rate) per year to Multiply and get your own personal domain address?

Consider this as a long term idea about Multiply's new features. You say Multiply 4.0.

Social networking is a good idea that make it possible to everyone to have a personal web site and also have in connection with his/her friends. Multiply is one of the bests in this category.
Personal web sites, at the other hand are more individual but you need to manage the content and format yourself, and you will lost networking aspects at all, the later is more important than the first.

The idea is adding a new feature to Multiply as "Convert To Personal Domain" that allows people to register a domain name ( for a fixed $/year) and assign their Multiply Site to that address. For example, if I register RezaShakiba.com as my personal domain address, it would be new address of my Multiply Home page (instead of www.rezashakiba.multiply.com) and the more important thing is that, nothing else will be changed. I mean, I still have access to my web site as a normal user, I have the same My Multiply Page, I have the same capabilities and options that a normal user have. I don't need to pay for other host. I don't need to use any other content management system or web publishing tool. Nothing will changed but my Home Page address.

Of course we can expect to have more control on formating and also no-advertisement options during convert process.

And just to be clear, I am not from Multiply :)

Notes Added After Publishing:

Multiply must do the job the way that, when someone comes to our home page, he/she don't be able to recognize that this is a Multiply site. The only difference will be this small message at the bottom of the page that says:

You may not be able to see the full content of this site, because some parts of this page published only to Reza's Multiply Network

Then it is more different than simply registering a domain and redirecting it to our multiply site. Because when you redirect a domain, what user finally will see, is still a sub-domain website. If Multiply be kind enough, we can also have our email@personal.com that directly will be posted to our message boards as a new messages.

one of the option in the poll says, "It is good, but only if it gives me more control on website formating, for example, equal to a Golden membership"

i'm not sure what this means since the formatting that paid subscribers used to have that no one else had is now available to all for free. why pay for something that you already have for free?
afterinfo wrote on Oct 19, '07, edited on Oct 19, '07
Yer i thought that too but thought i,de misread it as allways

Come Out & Tell Us what you really want REZA
reading between the lines it looks like your basicly looking for better security & removel options -- ? Correct

is it possible now to buy a domain name and have it point toward your multiply site? i've seen other people mention that.
rezashakiba wrote on Oct 19, '07, edited on Oct 19, '07
I used Golden Membership as an example, but with more control I mean ability to use scripts, adding contents to the right pane, etc. And as you know golden members had control over right pane, we don't have it now.

Multiply must be do the job the way that, when someone comes to our home page, he/she don't be able to recognize that this is a Multiply site. The only difference will be this small message at the bottom of the page that says:

Reza good idea with the scripts but i dont belive that option will come back to multiply.
Google has millions of items that multiply could be using from google scripts ( set up on mp )
MASSIVE HITS PULLER

YES It is Meg ----------- i make redirectors for nice people using my dot com,s
rezashakiba wrote on Oct 19, '07
Redirecting is not the same thing. When someone redirected to your multiply site, what he/she see is still a sub-domain. But in this way, he never will realize that this site is actually a Multiply site. This reflect you as a professional one.

Yes, I also know that Multiply may not allow to use scripts, but I think there is other rooms that they can add instead of scripts.

This is a example of a ( I Created redirector in use by ) -
afterinfo.com/deejayyaj --- he can use it in reverse also

The only difference your mentioning is your OWN Domain name..
AND That you could USE The multiply NAMESERVERS.

I Understand what your saying.. but its cheaper to bye them elsewhere
TRUST ME........ Theres millions of places to get dot.com names cheap
rezashakiba wrote on Oct 19, '07
But it is not a domain, in this way you got a domain, a host, and also a content management system like Multiply and also a brilliant social networking and user access control that integrated to the Multiply. Just imagine it...

Yes I Can -- another Myspace they treid it & didnt get far same as yahoo & other's
NOW - Multiply is unique & staff here all the time - IT Could be a possiblity as long as its staffed 24/7

Even so you can do that with any domain compnay..
the only difference you,de be on multiply. whom
would never be cheap anuff on the domains to draw me in to using them

NO Pun intended..... And something like that would kill it.
( got to think Customer,s & not greed ) - No Offence too you reza

As long as you have credit online somewhere you can bye your own domain name if its out there & point it to multiply.

I mean ability to use scripts,
i'm a gold member and i can't add javascript.

the only people who can use javascript are the ones who are grandfathered in. i don't believe that has anything to do with membership status.

yes, the gold members can use the right rail, but that's an advertising/revenue issue. paying for a domain won't be putting any money in multiply's pocket. so you'd be using their services and they'd be getting nothing (not even advertising money) in return.

i think no, because what about us, we enjoy the benefits of multily for free and we don't to loose this membership just for paying.

My golden dream is to get rid of the horrible ads, even if I had to pay for it.

I support the idea!!! Sairam!

My golden dream is to get rid of the horrible ads
You can - Just get yourself a premium account
subtractadddivide wrote on Oct 22, '07
I'm not sure it'd take much to do it yourself, though - A number of companies sell domain names, and allow you to redirect from one to the other
these people do it, I think:

http://www.lowcostnames.co.uk/
http://order.1and1.co.uk/

There are probably many others

Make your money the good old fashioned way.. open up a gazillion services.. and use your NUMBER of acc'ts to generate bucks! Take a small cut for everything purchased. Oh, and ALWAYS listen to your customers. Never pull a Yahoo 360. EVER.

Hi, I would like to thank Multiply, for welcoming me, a 360 refugee. I am a published poet and the woes at THAT other blog site have left me angry and worried. Discovering Multiply has been a pleasant shock and the new tool to import, my blogs from 360, is simply amazing. Being able to cross blog, at Bloggers - AMAZING...

Are there any plans to cross blog at Wordpress?

In any case - I am LOVING my Multiply experience and will try to get my entire 360 network of friends, over here...you guys are frigging AMAZING!
